KinectVision roadmap
From alpha microphone path to full local sensor platform.
Validated now
- KinectVoice global mic creation
- live processing and first-pass beamforming
- default mic set and restore
- user-session persistence
- rollback and uninstall flow
- KinectVision RGB, face detection, guided Byron enrollment, and combined RGB/depth/IR validation on Codex-Core
- face recognition v0.7.0 unknown-rejection hardening passed one consenting unknown-person retest; not security-grade
Not finished yet
- full KinectVision visual driver completeness
- body tracking
- gestures
- pet detection
- Orion integration
- production-grade beamforming calibration
Visual validation is active, not complete.
RGB preview, face detection, guided enrollment, and combined RGB/depth/IR have been validated on Codex-Core. Depth packet skipping remains a documented limitation.
Near-term alpha goals
- Collect tester reports across Linux distributions and USB controllers.
- Validate KinectVoice startup timing after real login and reboot cycles.
- Improve first-run diagnostics and failure messages.
- Broaden confidence around Kinect v2 mic-array behavior outside Codex-Core.
- Collect more face-recognition unknown-person validation without treating the alpha recognizer as access control.
